All others doing essays of this nature wrote about misogyny or negative stereotypes of women (Vanity, weakness etc.) I decided to go the opposite route both to credit my ideas and to discredit those of the others. An example of gender stereotype in a media would be the Walt Disney film, Beauty and the Beast, the film is about a woman named Belle; she is perceived as a young, pleasant, and beautiful woman who gains attention from all the men in town.
Analysis of the Play Beauty and the Beast Beauty and the Beast was an amazing musical, many say it was much better than the movie. Just like the movie. It starts off in a faraway land, with the Young Prince who lived in a shining castled. The prince was spoiled, selfish and unkind.
The Beast is trying to reach her. Beauty and the Beast doesnt focus on womens vulnerability to male violence instead it is dealing with mens reaction to womens indifference. The Beast shows his male desire and Beauty has a cruel female response of indifference. The venerability of the Beast in this situation proves the real status of Beauty.
Moreover, the love story of Beauty and the Beast is a story of unconditional love. Beauty freed the Beast from the spell because of her unselfish love. This was show in the last scene when Beast asked Beauty if she is happy with his new appearance, Beauty answered, “It’s something I must get used to.”.
These Disney movies include: Aladdin, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Anastasia, and The Princess and the Frog. While Disney movies offer some positive elements, the danger of Disney's female characters are that they are over sexualized, gender stereotyped, racist, and they are repeatedly told that beauty equals goodness.
